Botanix, a Bitcoin layer-2 network, has announced it is permanently shutting down. If you hold any assets on the Botanix Spiderchain through Edge, you must withdraw them back to Bitcoin mainnet before July 1, 2026.
What's happening?
Botanix Labs is winding down operations after finding insufficient demand for programmable Bitcoin. The Spiderchain network will be fully offline by August 1, 2026.
Key dates -
July 1, 2026 — Withdraw your assets by this date
July 15, 2026 — Grace period (if announced by July 1)
August 1, 2026 — Final network shutdown. Assets remaining on-chain after this date may be unrecoverable.
How to withdraw -
Visit the Botanix bridge at bridge.botanixlabs.com
Connect your wallet (key export into a browser wallet may be necessary)
Withdraw your assets back to the Bitcoin mainnet
What happens if you miss the deadline?
After August 1, the federation will sweep remaining Bitcoin as part of the company's dissolution process. Assets left on-chain will not be recoverable through Edge or any other wallet.
