Bitcoin Cash (BCH) forked from Bitcoin (BTC) it introduced a new address type called CashAddr. This was to reduce the chance of a user sending coins from one currency to the address of another currency. If users sent BCH to a BTC address, or vice versa, recovery could be difficult or even impossible. The CashAddr address type is a simple conversion so that the address isn't usable on the BTC network. Legacy addresses with a 1 now begin with a q.
Bitcoin SV (BSV) is a fork of BCH and is also compatible with the Cashaddr address type. While compatible, the BSV community generally prefers to use the legacy 1-address type. You can convert the CashAddr address in Edge by tapping the three dots in the upper left corner of the Receive screen. BSV wallets will default to 1-addresses in a future release.
You can read more about address types in our blog post.
