You can reduce or eliminate blockchain fees on the Tron network, making it free to use for a handful of transactions each day!
Blockchain transactions always incur a small fee paid to the network for processing, but Tron has a unique feature allowing users to decrease this cost for most of their network activity by simply staking ("freezing") some of their TRX currency.
Fees:
Transactions on the Tron network are paid with what they call "resources" and allows users to avoid spending TRX to pay for the transaction. If no resources are left for the user's wallet account, then some TRX will be burned to generate these resources and pay the network fee. Paying for transactions with TRX can be very expensive, so it is important to pay attention to your resources.
Note: resource rental services also exist to allow users to pay TRX for temporary energy, but charge less than what would have originally been burned by the transaction
Resources:
Resources are consumed with each transaction made by the user's wallet, but the type and amount of resources used depends on the complexity of the transaction itself.
Bandwidth:
All Tron wallets receive a small allocation of "bandwidth" each day, currently up to 600 units. This is enough to cover a small handful of basic transactions (2-3) including simply sending TRX currency or some TRC10 tokens.
Energy:
Energy is NOT accumulated naturally and requires the user to stake funds to earn some. When Tron transactions are more complex, they will require some "energy" to be processed. Complex transactions include anything that involves a smart contract or a TRC20 token - such as making a swap or sending USDT.
Note: sending a Tron TRC20 token (such as USDT) is about 2x more expensive when the receiving wallet does not have an existing token balance
Staking:
Staking TRX on the Tron network, also called "freezing," allows users to accumulate the resources needed to compensate the network for processing transactions. Users can stake their TRX to earn either bandwidth or energy, depending on the pool selected, and can split their funds between these two pools based on their own transaction needs. Unstaking on Tron network takes ~14 days before funds are available.
Note: searching your Tron address on TronScan (block explorer) will also show your current staked funds and resource balances
