How To Stake:
- Log into your Edge account
- Tap "View Assets" or use the Assets tab near the bottom
- Scroll down and tap into any of the different wallets in your account.
- Locate the Earn button (if available) to access the staking area for this asset.
How To Unstake:
- Return to the same wallet that you staked from in your assets list.
- Again, tap the Earn button
- Here you will be able to review and manage your staking position.
PLEASE understand on-chain transaction fees!
Your self-custodial Edge account uses smart contracts for staking assets on the blockchain. This requires broadcasting on-chain transactions in order to stake or unstake. You might consider not staking all of your balance, for if your unstaked balance in the wallet is too low, you may need buy, swap or transfer in a small amount of the asset to be able to create this transaction and "unlock" your staked funds.
What is Staking?
Staking in crypto is typically when you lock-up or allocate some of your crypto holdings to a stake pool that generates yield from trading volume or staking rewards, unique to a particular asset.
Tracking and managing all the different DeFi protocols and staking opportunities today has become slightly overwhelming. Edge has developed easy access to yield-bearing products in the crypto space, with a touch of a button!
We will be adding more functionality and support for the Earn feature in Edge, so keep tuned in from time to time to learn how you can optimize your crypto savings strategy.
Risks involved with staking are typically minimal, often limited to just "smart contract risk," however these smart contracts are already well battled-tested before they make it into our app.
Edge has staking available for BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, BNB, BCH, DOGE, LTC, ATOM, and AVAX, thanks to our integration with THORChain Savers Vaults. An alternative staking protocol, Kiln, also exists for ETH. FIO and FTM also have either own staking protocols that can be accessed and managed in same Earn section of the respective asset.
