How to Send to a Zcash Name

Learn how to send ZEC to a human-readable Zcash Name (e.g., alice.zcash) instead of a long wallet address using Edge Wallet.

A Zcash Name (for example, yourname.zcash or yourname.zec) lets you send ZEC to a simple, human-readable name instead of a long address. Supporting wallets resolve the name to the correct Zcash address for you.

Before you start

  • Zcash Names only work when sending ZEC from a Zcash (ZEC) wallet.

  • Both suffixes are supported: .zcash and .zec.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Edge and select your ZEC wallet, tap Send, and then tap Enter.

  2. Enter the recipient's Zcash Name for example yourname.zcash or yourname.zec.

  3. Edge resolves the name and fills in the matching Zcash address.

  4. Enter the amount you want to send (and an optional memo if you'd like to include one).

  5. Slide and confirm the transaction.

That's it — once confirmed on the network, your ZEC is on its way.

If the name doesn't resolve

  • Check the spelling of the name.

  • Check the dot suffix. Make sure you've included .zcash or .zec.

  • Confirm you're sending ZEC from a Zcash wallet — names won't resolve from other assets.

Want to register your own name?

You can claim a Zcash Name and point it to your Edge wallet.

Need help?

If a name still won't resolve or your send fails, please contact Edge Support. Note that you need to have updated to the latest version of Edge for names to resolve because this is a new feature.
